Interactive Tic-Tac-Toe Center for any Word List

Interactive Tic-Tac-Toe Center for any Word List

Are you looking for a cheap, no fuss center activity that you can use with any word list and that your children will love?

This center idea is so easy to make, run and play.

Simply laminate nine sheets of paper and provide students with a list of words that they are working on.

You could use any word list like your sight word lists HFW lists, spelling words, topic words and other vocabulary children might be focusing on.

Lay out the laminated pages in a grid pattern of 3 x 3 on the floor.

Invite children to choose a word each and they will read and then write that word with a dry erase (whiteboard) marker, instead of an x or o.

The first one to make a line of three words in any direction is the winner. Students can then play again with two new words.

Children can rub off their word with an eraser. I also like to use some kitchen spray (leave on for 30 seconds) and wipe off after students have played. Baby wipes also work well.

This could be a fun game for children to play at home.

N.B If you don't have access to a laminator you can place some paper inside a binder plastic sleeve and use a dry erase (whiteboard) marker to write on the plastic.

This could also be a great homework alternative for children who learn better with hands-on games.
